Lent Week 5 Day 30

Today is a prayer about delivering us from fear. Yesterday Ann spoke of fear as being fraud. Fear is a tool of the enemy to get us to think we are alone in this and it’s all up to us. Fear is a lie! God is with us and knows what is going on in our lives. When we trust our God for the day ahead there is no fear. I learned that to experience courage I have to face fear. Sometimes fear can be a test of faith. I choose to face fear like David and say,  to fear, “You are coming to fight against me with a sword, a spear and a javelin. But I’m coming against you in the name of the Lord who rules over all. He is the God of the armies of Israel. He’s the one you have dared to fight against. 46 This day the Lord will give me the victory over you. I’ll strike you down. I’ll cut your head off.

Lent to Repent

Day 30

The scripture for today is Matthew 5:27-30 and Jesus is talking about the lust of the flesh. Whatever causes you to sin in your heart then remove it.

Ann says: Today I will think pure thoughts because I have been washed clean by pure grace.

We no longer have to give into sin now that we know the truth and the truth sets us free. We have the power through Jesus Christ to overcome our fleshly desires. God makes a way of escape, choose to walk in it. 1 Corinthians 10:13, 13 No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].

Day 21- Go about doing good as Jesus did.

Day 22- It’s the sin God hates!

Day 23- True beauty comes from a clean heart that sees God

Day 24- Have faith Jesus is the Truth

Day 25- Fast from your sinful nature

Day 26- Believe Jesus, deny self, walk in the Kingdom

Day 27- Follow the Holy Spirit, return to God

Day 28- True worship connects you to God’s grace

Day 29- You have to follow the Holy Spirit continually to keep fear out

Day 30- Fear is flesh, Faith is spirit

Lent Week 4 Day 24

My reading today in the Mosaic Bible is speaking about truth. He is telling the christian to search for truth, hear truth, learn truth, love truth, speak the truth, hold the truth, defend the truth til death.

I wasn’t sure what I would write about this but I was led to my book by Kyle Idleman, Not a Fan and my other book by Lisa Bevere called Girls With Swords. On day 11 Kyle is speaking about a minister who began to have doubts about what he believed in. Kyle goes on to say that knowing all the right answers pale in comparison to knowing the one who said,” I am the Truth.” We know Jesus is truth. Then in my book by Lisa Bevere she talks about how important God’s Word is in our lives. That His Word is powerful and it shouldn’t be changed into anything other than what it says because when you do it loses it’s power. It’s the power of God’s Word that renews our minds. God’s Word is truth. When it begins to renew our mind our thoughts change and then our actions. She also said something I love, she said that God’s living Word is the origin of all the powerful transformative truths. Ultimately, the Truth is not a theory to be debated; He is the Word made flesh – Jesus. John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. There is a vast difference between telling the truth and being the truth!

So in the reading today you could take the word truth and replace it with Jesus. Christian search for Jesus, hear Jesus, learn Jesus’ ways, love Jesus, speak of Jesus, hold Jesus in your heart, defend Jesus until death.

Lent to Repent

Day 24

The scripture for today is Hebrews 11:1-13 and it’s talking all about the people in the Old Testament who lived by faith. Naming each one and what they had faith in God for.

Ann says: Today, we will hope and pray for one “impossible” thing because though we may feel overwhelmed- we will not underestimate what God is doing through us and through the world.

This reminds me of something I wrote about here. In the movie Alice in Wonderland, Alice’s father told her to think of 6 impossible things before breakfast. Not just one but six! WITH God all things are possible. It takes faith and belief on our part. Faith is knowing God will do it, then believe. We are in partnership with God to make the impossible happen. Mary was willing to accept what the angel told her without question. She did ask how is this possible since she was a virgin but the angel told her how it would happen. The way he explained it to her, she still could have not believed but she chose to believe. She agreed by saying let it be done to me as you have said. We believe and then we see. That’s faith. I wrote about Mary here

Day 21- Go about doing good as Jesus did.

Day 22- It’s the sin God hates!

Day 23- True beauty comes from a clean heart that sees God

Day 24- Have faith Jesus is the Truth

Lent Week 2 Day 9

The poem I read today in my Mosaic Bible devotion is about recognizing our need for God’s presence in our lives. We weren’t meant to live this life without Him or alone. Only with His leading can we have true peace, true freedom and a sure path. I will praise and thank God all the day long for His everlasting presence and guidance.

Trail to the Tree

Day 9 Everyday Miracles

The scripture reading is about when Jesus turned the water into wine at the wedding. His mother’s faith caused this miracle. Jesus said it wasn’t His time to her but she told the servants to do as He says. Our faith prompts miracles.

Ann says: Today think of one way our Lord has turned your water into wine. What has He made surprisingly sweet, rich in your life?

I would have to say the practice of eucharisteo from Ann Voskamp’s book 1000 Gifts has been making my days sweet.

Day 1- Get your thinking straight and be in God’s presence

Day 2- Be reading the Bible and trust God

Day 3- Reverence, worship and praise God and Jesus for who God is and what Jesus has done.

Day 4- Be faithful to Him and He will be faithful to fill you. Look to Jesus with gratitude and prayer.

Day 5- Notice the miserable and suffering, ask God to reveal them so I can tell them the Good News that there is hope and there is a Savior, His name is Jesus!

Day 6- Stay close to God with a repented heart. He will bring life out of the mundane if I trust Him to do it.

Day 7- Relationship means dependence. Depend on your relationship with Jesus to do God’s will and bring Him joy and joy to yourself.

Day 8- Don’t hesitate to ask God for help out of all temptations, trials, distresses and troubles. Keep God on your mind, always.

Day 9- Being thankful and having faith for the presence of God in my life will prompt miracles.

The Bible

The-Bible-Miniseries-DVD

I watched this movie in March 2013 on T.V.  I didn’t know God would speak to me all through the beginning of this series. Only in the beginning did He speak. The middle and end I didn’t get anything, but I want to share what came to me from the start. The movie is The Bible come to life. So it begins with the beginning of the Bible naturally. What I’m going to write are short sentences that were spoken to me while watching the movie. Like what I saw translated to what God was saying to me. The beginning is what was said in the movie and I will differentiate it. This is meant to encourage you, it encourages me when I am down.

From the movie: The Bible

God restores humanity to Himself.

The stories define who we are.

ONE Father in Heaven

ONE teacher and He is Jesus Christ

Choices we make, how we live, how we love, how we struggle and overcome.

Here is what came to me while watching The Bible:

When God speaks and gives promises BELIEVE or you will delay your blessing or you may not even get it.

NEVER tell God NO, do not be disobedient, OBEY, never be displeased with what God provides. [ This came to me when Lot’s wife was being displeased with what Abraham was telling them.]

FAITH in what you can not see.

NEVER go against what you know God is telling you to do.

DO NOT come up with your own solutions. FOLLOW GOD ONLY even when it looks like He isn’t working. [ Again watching the story of Lot and his wife].

TRUST IN GOD IN ALL THINGS YOU DO!

GOD IS WITH US! [ I noticed they said this a lot and I feel like it gives your spirit confirmation so I do this a lot myself, to remind myself that He is with me just like He was with them].

Do not let PRIDE overtake you.

Do not ever confess: I can’t, I won’t

With God YOU CAN, YOU WILL

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE to believe as long as you are here on this earth.

ALWAYS be willing to help anyone.

NEVER let temptation be so great as to defer you from the thing God has said to do.

Be a warrior against evil because you know God is with you.

When you know you are sent by God NOTHING can stop you from accomplishing what God has willed.

No evil can hinder you.

Do not look back at the past, it is gone, if you do you will die in the moment. [ This was when Lot’s wife turned into a pillar of salt].

Sometimes God calls us to do emotionally hard things.

To be chosen by God is a blessing and a test. [ When Abraham was asked to sacrifice Issac].

Prove faith again and again.

God wants to be FIRST in our hearts, minds and lives!

When we obey God even if it hurts our heart, we prove we trust Him.

Have faith and when we learn this about ourselves through this test, we have magnificent joy! [ This was when Abraham was going through with what God asked and after he proved his faith God provided the ram. Abraham had enormous joy].

When we know we are in harmony with God’s will it is a joyous experience!

Experience means to see, to hear, to feel with my heart.

To experience God we have to: SEE [ His vision], KNOW [ His will], HEAR [ God’s voice], FEEL [ with my heart].

The Devil wants us to think we are nothing to God because of our sin.

With God’s power we are set free, we can do all things through Christ [ His power].

We are free in God, with God.

Stay in God and you will continually be free! It is on going. Stay free by abiding in THE WORD OF GOD!

DO NOT FORGET GOD!

HE NEVER FORGETS YOU!

NO MAN can conquer God.

NO DEVIL can conquer God.

So who can defeat us? NO ONE.

We have to belong to God to know this. By our faith in Jesus we become a child of God.

Movie said this: God saved me for a purpose.

What came to me:

trust God, do not question His ways, His ways are not our ways. [Which it says this in the Bible].

Confess [ say out loud ] what you believe, what God says is true, IT WILL COME TO PASS!

Rebellion [ telling God no ] ,will lead to evil things you never dreamed of.

Stay with God

Trust God

Faith in God

Do exactly as God tells you to be spared of distress, destruction and trouble.

Our freedom comes with a price.

Jesus paid it on the cross.

The Devil will pay in the end. He will lose for our freedom and victory.

When the Devil thinks he has you in a trap, God will provide the way out. He will outsmart the Devil because He is God! [ This was when Moses had the Red Sea in front of him and the Pharaoh  behind him ]. It also says this in the Bible.

GOD LOVES YOU!

HE IS GOOD!

FOLLOW GOD
TRUST GOD
OBEY GOD

Ask God what to do so He can answer. You have to ask to get the answer! [ It says in the Bible you do not have because you do not ask].

Declare always, God is with me, to overcome evil.

Do not be afraid when your in the hand of God, He’s got you.

He will not let you down in your trouble.

Reach and grab His hand, have faith to reach, then grab hold, now don’t let go of God!

Hurry! The enemy is coming! Come to God while you can!

God doesn’t want any of His children to perish.

Remember [ keep it fresh in your mind] the freedom He gave so as to not fall into sin again and forget God.

Getting free is a long way to come but BECOMING FREE and getting saved is the beginning of the journey. [ This was when the Israelites made it to the other side of the Red Sea].

Movie said this: Trust God, Follow His Path. Be true to God and He will keep His promises.

What was said to me:

One man’s dream is another man’s future. [ When Moses knew He wouldn’t see the promised land but Joshua would].

If you do not fight for yourself at least fight for God.

Love not for yourself, love for God.

Let everything you do be for His glory not your own.

It’s The Sin I Hate!

When I became a mom I couldn’t figure out why I was getting angry when my children misbehaved or hurt one another. I never thought I had anger issues until I had kids! I tried to figure out why this was happening to me. Now that I have been in fellowship with Jesus, He has shined a light on the anger issue and it has changed the way I look at my kids and the way I handle situations that aren’t fun to deal with.

I had the revelation that when I get angry at them, it’s not the child that is angering me, it’s the SIN I hate! This is the same with God towards us. He always loves us but doesn’t always love what we do, think or say. Part of living in a godly way is renewing your mind with God’s Word everyday.

I don’t remember where I got this from, it’s in my notebook, but it says: It’s not enough just to believe the Bible, I must fill my mind and heart with it so that the Holy Spirit can transform me with the truth. We have to become doers of the Word.                                          Jesus pointed out that God’s blessing comes from obeying the truth, not just knowing it. John 13:13-17, You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you are right in doing so, for that is who I am. 14 So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet as well. 15 For I gave you [this as] an example, so that you should do [in turn] as I did to you. 16 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, you are blessed [happy and favored by God] if you put them into practice [and faithfully do them].  I use the Joyce Meyer Everyday Bible Amplified Version and in it she puts God’s Word into affirmations and confessions so you can speak it out loud over your life. We have to speak God’s Word out loud to see it manifest in our lives. When we do this it puts us in agreement with Him and it has to come to pass because God’s Word does not return to Him void. Isaiah 55:11, So will  My word be which goes out of My mouth;
It will not return to Me void (useless, without result),
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Remember words are empty without faith and belief. You have to believe what He says is true for you and your faith for Him to do it is what brings it to pass. We serve the same God as Abraham, Moses and all those in the Bible. That thought just amazes me! The Bible says God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He never changes, so we can trust Him. Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever. God will do for you what He did for those in the Bible. We are in the ” To Be Continued” part of His Story.

When I began to believe these truths I began to trust God and that is the beginning of your relationship with Him. When we begin to come away from our sin nature through our faith in Jesus Christ, God smiles on us. The sin is what separates us from Him, that’s why He hates it. When you put your faith in Jesus, He takes the sin away and we can have access to God and all His Grace and provision for our lives!
