Seek And Delight In The Lord

The scripture Matthew 6:33, But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well, has been a significant one in my life as a follower of Jesus. When I heard it the first time was during Whitney Houston’s funeral when Bishop Jakes talked there. I can still remember his voice saying this scripture and me hanging on the words trying to understand the meaning. At first, for awhile I have thought it means to put God first in my day, my life and He will take care of me. I do think it has this meaning but there is also a deeper meaning or maybe another meaning to me since I have matured. I have been thinking what “His righteousness” means. Jesus is our righteousness which means right standing with God. Only through Jesus can we have right standing with God. So, to seek His righteousness, I need to seek Jesus. Since I am born  again, I already have sought Jesus and now have His righteousness. I have put Him first and now I have right standing with God and have access to God’s Kingdom living. Because this is true, God gives me everything else I need.

This gives way to delighting myself in God. Psalm 37:4, Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Another word for delight is captivate. When I have great pleasure and captivate myself with Jesus and God, He gives me the desires of my heart. What He wants us to desire is Him first. A heart that desires God above all else is the delighted, fulfilled person. Not only that but God directs the steps of the one who delights in Him and establishes his way. Psalm 37:23, The steps of a [good and righteous] man are directed and established by the Lord,
And He delights in his way [and blesses his path]. So, God will direct which way to go in life and you have the assurance that you are living in His will and purpose for your life. And to make it even better God blesses your path. Your life will be full of blessings!

Salvation Day

I was reading my daily scripture I get in my email and it read: John 14:20,  On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

For the first time I thought what day is Jesus talking about? You would think He’s talking about His Second Coming. I went to my Bible and read from the beginning of Chapter 14 and I have had a revelation of this scripture. Jesus is talking about your salvation day. In the verse before,19, it says,  Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. The world doesn’t see Jesus. Satan has blinded the world from seeing Jesus. Only when we are made alive in spirit through God’s Holy Spirit do we recognize Jesus. When this happens we then see Jesus as He really is, ALIVE and GLORIOUS! When we are “born again”, what has happened is, is the Truth has been revealed and realized in our hearts.

We then know Jesus is God and they are one and now Jesus lives in me through the Holy Spirit. This is being “born again”. When you realize and “see” Jesus is alive and He is your Savior, you too will live just as He says in the scripture.

A Person Cannot Receive EVEN ONE THING UNLESS It Is Given Him From Heaven

January 1000 Gifts

Counting 1000 gifts this year beginning January 1st 2016.  I have been a little down since Christmas has been over but I am starting to see the New Year coming and I am looking forward to it! I  wanted to mention 3 gifts of the Holy Spirit that I received Christmas Day and then a few days after. The first gift was dinner at Mc Donald’s for free! On Christmas Day my husband and daughter went to Mc Donalds for food cause I woke up sick that day.  Anyway, they left me home watching The Nativity towards the end of the movie and I was already feeling Jesus but they came in and said, ” Your not gonna believe what happened!” I said,”What?” They said, ” A lady paid for our food!” I said,” How?” with tears welling up in my eyes cause I knew I was getting ready to witness a miracle. They said that they let her go ahead of them in the drive thru line and when they got to the cashier to pay they were told that the  lady  in front of them paid the bill! That was thirty dollars we saved! Another gift is I think God has healed my stomach. I get stomach aches every time I eat and spend every night with severe stomach pains. I had been feeling a fluttering in my stomach for about 3 days and now for 3 days no stomach aches at all! That has been a tremendous relief! The next thing was on Christmas Eve we go to family’s house and exchange gifts only this year I ended up with a scarf. It was because the earrings I got won’t work for my ear and a sweater I got was too big. I was okay with it because I have Jesus and that’s  all that matters but something interesting happened. The day before yesterday I was drying dishes and I thought, all they had to get me would have been some towels and I would have been happy! Then my husband came home from his mom’s house and said his mom had been thinking that I didn’t really get enough for Christmas and wants to take me where ever I want to go to buy some towels! I knew in every one of these instances that the Holy Spirit was making Himself known.

I figured after Christmas this was why I was a little sad, I was full of experiences with God during Christmas and then boom I wasn’t experiencing anything. It made me sad. But I remembered Ann Voskamp’s 1000 gifts which I have tried before and quit several times. I quit because I found it hard to be thankful for the mundane things such as a cat laying in a chair but God has revealed something to me about this. If you truly are following Christ in every moment then your in God’s Will and everything you are experiencing is actually a gift from God. Now I know you might disagree because some things don’t look like gifts, they look like thorns. But I read in Ann’s The Greatest Gift that you don’t have a trial that doesn’t have a gift.  I listened to Steve Furtick recently and he was preaching about Paul’s thorn. THORN stands for: Temptation, Hardship, Opposition, Rejection, Need. He goes on to say the “thorn” is from Satan but the message is from God. He said to ask yourself, could I be getting  a gift from God wrapped in the package of the enemy right now in my life? The thorns Jesus wore brought pain but also brought God glory! So, what I am trying to say is, if we look closely and pay attention, God is giving us gifts continuously. The title to this post is a scripture from the Bible John 3:27. I have meditated on this scripture and had the revelation that this Earth is God’s. We are IN HIS creation. He is overlooking us like we would an ant farm. He GIVES us EVERYTHING we need to live. He MAINTAINS everything we need to live. When your in His plan for your life, He is in CONTROL.  So, suddenly I see everything around me as a gift directly from Him. I finally get how you can experience God in little things that may seem mundane to us, but it’s actually a gift from Him. How many times a day we fail to thank God for the little things because we don’t see them as coming from heaven. We take so much for granted. So much could be taken away and we don’t even give it a thought.

I want Christmas to keep going, not to end. I am thankful for my Holy Spirit gifts and pray to experience at least 3 every day this coming year. The way I have figured out how to do this is with this scripture, to be mindful that whatever I receive, any joy I feel is ultimately from heaven. And when something hard happens I will be looking for the gift cause I know God has a message for me in the hard moments. He is always growing us in the hard times. If you are reading this and don’t believe what I’m saying, it’s because you CHOOSE a different reality than me. My reality is with God, I choose to take His perspective on my life and therefore, I experience HIM. John 14:21, The person who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who[really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him [I will make Myself real to him].”

Follow Jesus and what He says for real and you experience Him for real.

I also enjoyed giving gifts this year to neighbors and family and plan to figure out ways to give to others at least three times a day. I felt God in giving to others. I remember in the movie Pay It Forward it was said that if your giving doesn’t give relief then it isn’t really giving. I pray to give some people some relief this year.  2 Thessalonians 2:17, comfort and encourage and strengthen your hearts [keeping them steadfast and on course] in every good work and word.  Just as Jesus did, Acts 10:38,  how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with great power; and He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him. We are anointed  to bless like Jesus did.

Don’t Be Selfish

I learned a few years ago in the beginning of my relationship with Jesus, that all selfish thoughts, words and actions lead to sin. Jesus said all we have to do is love God and love others. I had a revelation about the scripture in John 12:24 almost a year ago.

John 12:24, 24 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone [just one grain, never more]. But if it dies, it produces much grain and yields a harvest.

I didn’t understand this for awhile but now I do. What I have observed about this scripture is if I sit and do nothing or only serve myself, I am alone. I have to die to self to produce a harvest. In other words, give myself away to others. This is what makes the circle complete. We have a relationship with Jesus then share His love that we receive with others and we are complete. If I go and serve Jesus and others, I bear fruit and bring in a harvest. Put Jesus first in my life and people second. Serve the people God has placed in my life. It isn’t complicated, just pay attention to who is in front of me.

I pray to not be selfish and for God to help me serve Him with my worship and to help me serve others. I pray to not have the ” what about me” mentality and to meditate on the Word and to be able to do the Word. I confess that I will not be alone! I will die to self and serve others to gain a harvest for His Kingdom!

Seek Jesus And You Seek Wisdom

In Chronicles 9 Queen Sheba visited King Solomon and she experienced his wisdom. She had HEARD of his wisdom and didn’t believe it until  she went to see him and experienced it for herself. There is a similarity to her seeking King Solomon and us seeking Jesus. Do we really want to seek Jesus, experience Him for ourselves or do we want to let someone else lead and guide us through so called church? I choose to seek Jesus for myself. Know the truth from my own experiences with Him. We can only KNOW something through experience. In Proverbs 9:10 it says worship and reverence for God is the chief and choice part [ the beginning ] of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding. First we have to have a respect for God and a heart that worships Him before we can receive His wisdom.To have a heart for worship means we have to be born again. The Bible says we can only worship in spirit and in truth, so if we aren’t born again of His Spirit we can not worship Him. We are dead in our sins until we are made alive by God’s power.  Chronicles 9:23  says God put wisdom in Solomon’s mind. I like what Joyce Meyer says in my Bible in putting the Word to work, she said, God-given wisdom is far more valuable than wealth.

I came across a native american proverb the other day that makes a lot of good sense.

I believe the native american had life right. They lived off the land worshiped and reverenced God, protected the planet and loved others. After all that’s how we got Thanksgiving. But the white man ruined everything. Not so wise. The native american was wise. White man is all about money and wealth and statue. Native americans just wanted to enjoy the life they had with what God provided because that was enough. Jesus is enough. God has given us everything we need but Satan wants us to think we need more worldly things to fulfill us. It’s the presence of God and His wisdom that will fill us. When we experience it we will see that this is what we have been longing for all along. I  have native american heritage on my dad’s side and I don’t know if that’s why I am drawn to native americans. But even as a child watching those old cowboy movies I always rooted for the native americans. I have a need lately to listen to their music and chant. It connects me with God in a deeper more intimate way than the christian music today. I believe I’m on a journey from surface relationship with God to a deeper one.

Second Chronicles 15: 1-4, The Spirit of God came on Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. But in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, and he was found by them.

If I seek God (Jesus) as craving for Him, I will find Him but if I become indifferent and forsake Him, He will forsake me. The Lord is with me while I am with Him. So when I am feeling alone and like God isn’t there, it is me forsaking Him.

KEEP SEEKING JESUS, NOT WEALTH!

Reverence, Worship and Praise

These three words are what comes naturally after being born again. Once we are woken up to the fact of who God really is, when we know without a doubt that He is the one and only true living God and He loves us, we begin to have reverence for Him. Reverence is a deep respect for Him. Then, as some would not realize, comes worship. We tend to think singing to God is worship, but as we reverence God there is a feeling that comes and it’s called worship. So, as Kim Walker once said, we worship God in our heart and the singing is a manifestation of the worship we feel.  So, singing is praise! Praise is the expression of reverence and worship.

God showed me several scriptures in the Bible having to do with reverence and worship. Scriptures that tell us if we will do these things God will do something in return. First of all if we want to have wisdom we begin with reverencing and worshiping God. Psalm 111:10 says,  The [reverent] fear of the Lord is the beginning (the prerequisite, the absolute essential, the alphabet) of wisdom;
A good understanding and a teachable heart are possessed by all those who do the will of the Lord;
His praise endures forever. If we reverence and worship we are in God’s will and He will give us wisdom. As followers of Jesus, not only do we want knowledge but most importantly we want His wisdom. When we possess wisdom we have insight and understanding that mere knowledge can not express. Knowledge of something isn’t the same as experiencing it. When Jesus imparts wisdom to us we are experiencing His presence. When we follow the Holy Spirit we are living in wisdom.

When we reverence and worship God we are actually serving Him. If we ever doubt that we are serving,  just look at your heart and see if you are reverencing and worshiping God. As it says in Psalm 2:11, Worship the Lord and serve Him with reverence [with awe-inspired fear and submissive wonder];
Rejoice [yet do so] with trembling. When we are serving God and in His will for our lives we then put ourselves on the path where all blessings flow. Blessings include provision. Psalm 111:5 says, He has given food to those who fear Him [with awe-inspired reverence];
He will remember His covenant forever.  God notices who reverences and worships Him. He will provide for them and never forget them.

When I read about people in the Bible such as Abraham, Jacob and David, I like to think we are like them only living in a different day and time. This scripture tells me that this is true, Psalm 61:5, For You have heard my vows, O God;
You have given me the inheritance of those who fear Your name [with reverence]. We can have assurance that if we are reverencing and worshiping God as they did, that God is with us too. God is looking for people who will honor Him, put Him first!

And lastly, when we reverence and worship and then praise God, it keeps Satan away! I had a dream once where demons were messing with me and taunting me and I heard the Spirit of God tell me, evil can not inhabit the praises of God!  When we are actually praising God, evil can’t be present. That is comforting to know that evil can’t penetrate the praise we give to God! Luke 4:8, Jesus replied to him, “It is written and forever remains written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve only Him.’”  This was what Jesus said to Satan when he tempted Jesus.

So, no matter what we do, keep worshiping and praising God! It should be like food is to our body. Do it all day, every day! Keep your head up and hold hands high!

Who Needs a Physician?

Jesus said in Luke 5:31 that it is not the healthy who are in need of a physician but those who are sick. He is saying He came for the ones who know they need Him.  When we realize and become aware that we are “sick” [our sinful state], then we see that we are in need of a savior. Until we grasp this truth, we will keep living a lie. The lies of Satan will prevail and when we come to the end of it, our lives will be all for naught. We are born under the curse, a spiritual sickness. Satan wants us to believe there is nothing wrong with us, we can handle it, we got this under control. But in reality if God isn’t in control we are headed down the wrong path and that’s the path of sin. Doing things our own way, which is sin, leads to death. It may not be physical death at first but it will be a death of something in our life.

The path to salvation, the healing of Jesus’ blood is only the beginning. Once we receive Jesus as savior, we then have to make Him Lord. He heals our sinful state by giving us His sinless state.  God doesn’t see us as sinners anymore, but He  allows us to have weaknesses. As Paul wrote in 2nd Corinthians 12:7-10  or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.  We may think once we are saved our life will be easy, but Jesus specifically said we will have trouble but to be happy because he has overcome the world! Our weakness is what God uses to keep us dependent on Him. Without it we could get prideful and slip into thinking highly of ourselves and that we are in control of our life. This thinking causes us to forget God. If we can’t see God working in our lives we will think it’s all our own doing.  If we are made to stay aware of our weakness, we keep looking for God’s strength. He said that His strength is made known and perfect in our weakness. So, we need God continually! Bless our weaknesses because that’s what keeps us connected to God! Our weakness and God’s power infuse together to make our connection. This produces the joy of the Lord which gives us strength. The joy of knowing we are living in God’s will, the joy of knowing His presence is with us, the joy of knowing” He’s got this” and the joy of knowing that when we die one day, Jesus will be there, and not only to take us to heaven but to also tell us we lived a life with meaning and purpose. When we choose God’s way, Jesus,to follow Him, we can’t go wrong.
